Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach

We recently toured the third annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House located in a plantation-style estate in West Palm Beach’s South End neighborhood. The house, owned by famed interior designer Lars Bolander, features 19 of the most prominent design firms from around the country, including several from South Florida, who transformed the home’s spaces with their unique and sophisticated styles.
In just under three months, the talented group designed each room of the remarkable 8,751-square-foot home inspired by South African and Dutch architecture. The home features four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a great room with vaulted ceilings and French doors that open up to an expansive loggia, and a spacious kitchen with an adjacent outdoor dining terrace. The home’s large master suite offers sprawling garden and pool views. The estate also boasts two guest houses, a pool house, and an expansive private garden with lush tropical flora for the ultimate outdoor living and entertaining experience.
Design enthusiasts and novices alike will be inspired by the level of creativity and imagination on display through unexpected wall treatments, beautiful furnishings and an array of bold colors.
The Kips Bay Decorator Show House is open now through Sunday, March 1st. The event benefits both Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and Boys and the Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.

CASACOR Miami 2019

CASACOR, the most complete architecture, interior, and landscaping design exhibition in North America, returned to the Magic City launching during Miami Art Week at Brickell City Centre.
This year’s exhibition features an international mix of 20 established and emerging designers, all inspired by sustainability and Miami’s urban infrastructure. Landscape artists have also curated living spaces to allow guests to truly connect with nature while creating a sense of belonging and calmness in the epicenter of Miami’s famed financial district.
Designs showcased at the indoor-outdoor exhibition include the works of Moniomi Design, Allan Malouf, Pininfarina, Jesus Pacheco Studio, Edge Collections, Alberto Salaberri, and Léo Shehtman, who all returned to the event for the second time displaying new designs. Keeping things fresh, CASACOR Miami has added new top-tier designers to its roster. Among these are Ukraine’s rising design firm YODEZEEN, AD100’s 2017 best interior designers Sig Bergamin, and Michelle Haim from award-winning design firm Fanny Haim & Associates, and Cristiana Mascarenhas.
Local talent such as Mr. Alex Tate Design, Guimar Urbina Interiors, B+G Design, Tamara Feldman Design, IG Workshop, Light on White Design Studio, and Studio RODA in collaboration with Odabashian are also showcasing their work at the event.
The design-centric exhibit is open to the public until December 21st with student tickets starting at $20, and regular admission costing $30.

Stantec Featured in INDULGE Design & Real Estate Issue 2019

Stantec’s Andrew Burnett, Raed Alawadhi, and Aida Sanchez-Gomez were featured in INDULGE’s 2019 Design and Real Estate Issue. They shared their experience, expertise, and insights in the architecture and design industry.

Andrew Burnett, Senior Principal, says Solitair Brickell is a project that stands out as an example of the firm’s work. The building’s unique façade inspired by the Medjool palm tree stands out from other high-rises in the Brickell area. He adds that architecture is transcendent, and it contributes to our collective sense of place connecting us to each other and our environmental ecology. 

When it comes to design, Raed Alawadhi, Senior Interior Designer, is influenced by his travels, especially Europe, because of their way of intervening a modern addition into an old building. Interior design trends he’s currently seeing include golds and rose golds and clients are very drawn to it, he adds.

According to Aida Sanchez-Gomez, Senior Architect, the Bacardi building has made an impact on her design style because it captures the essence of Miami and its people with its fused art and architecture. When it comes to her approach to architecture, she states that she is more concerned with how a project’s design crafts an experience for its occupants. She looks for the story that drives the design, and sometimes it stems from the natural environment or history of the site.

Our Newest Client, Saladino Design Studios

Oberhausen Marketing & Public Relations is proud to announce its newest client, Miami-based Saladino Design Studios. The collaborative studio of creatives, designers, engineers, architects, and artisans is fueled by the individualized narrative they curate for every project. Experts in their industry, Saladino has become the go-to team for hospitality design work throughout South Florida. OBR will be managing the group’s public relations and communications.

Saladino Design Studios was recently recognized at the 2019 IIDA SFC BRAGG Awards, which celebrates and showcases design excellence in our community. The team took home two awards including Best Sustainable Project for the interior design of Midtown 29 and Honorable Mention for their design of Suviche Doral.

A few key elements featured in Midtown 29 include custom furniture pieces in the common areas, wall design of the lobby, large custom herringbone inspired bookshelf with old books from a former Miami public library, chevron wood paneling throughout, and natural stone used in community bar.  Suviche Doral’s interiors were inspired by the vibrant colors of traditional Perruvian materials and fabrics.  The restaurant features the city’s first Pisco Bar, swinging chairs and colorful handwoven rope mural.

AIA Miami presents FitCity Miami 5 Conference

AIA Miami has partnered with AARP, the Department of Health, and the Miami Center for Architecture & Design to host its fifth annual FitCity Miami 5 Conference on Thursday, February 22.

The annual conference delves into the intersection between health and the built environment and explores how the design of our cities – buildings, streets, public spaces and healthy food access – directly influence our community’s health and well-being. FitCity Miami presents the latest health findings for Americans focusing on the chronic diseases most affecting us today, such as obesity and diabetes.

This year’s conference will focus on Age-Friendly Active Design with a stress on public spaces and Senior Living communities. FitCity Miami encourages participants to expand their understanding of how the development of Age-Friendly communities in Miami-Dade has an important, measurable and long-term impact on public health.

Architects, planners, designers, public health professionals, academics, city managers, elected officials, community leaders and residents are invited to this open discourse on how policies, including design standards, infrastructure and building codes can be beneficial to community health and overall quality-of-life.

FitCity Miami 5 will feature keynote speaker Dr. Rodney Harrell, Director of Livability Thought Leadership at AARP; as well as Joanna Lombard, AIA, UM School of Architecture; Gensler’s Karla Valdivia, AIA; Christopher Adams, AIA; Shannon O’Kelley Berler, R.I.D., LEED AP, NEWH; with Adam Steinhoff, CEO of Dedicated IT; Maria Nardi, MDC Parks; Scott Brown, University of Miami Public Health.
