Star Architects Descend on Miami Beach to Design Parking Garages

49-53 Collins Avenue Robotic Parking Garage Designed by ADD Inc Miami

Miami Beach’s stylish parking garage movement began in 1996 with Arquitectonica’s “Chia Pet” garage on Collins Avenue. Then in 2010, Herzog & de Meuron designed the famous 1111 Lincoln Road Garage that’s not only for parking but also a venue for high-end events and weddings.  There’s Frank Gehry’s illuminated garage at the New World Center Concert Hall and soon Zaha Hadid’s garage in Collins Park.  The next wave of garages in Miami Beach are three automated robotic parking garages (two on Collins Ave and one on 1st St) designed by architect Jonathan Cardello of the architecture firm ADD Inc Miami.  See story, image gallery and video in the Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204542404577158993265073180.html?mod=slideshow_overlay_mod#slide/4
